About the Artist

Naturally drawn to depicting both animals and people, Shropshire based Bev Davies’ style is free and distinctive, capturing the feelings and emotions of her subject. She uses a limited palette of earthy natural hues, and a combination of watercolour with Pen and Ink, to create her expressive and characterful compositions. Bev studied at Wrexham art college over 35 years ago, which led to her studying a BA in 3D Glass Design. Upon graduation, she pursued a career in glass as a self employed artist, later combining her skills with that of her husband (also a glass artist) to open their own glass studio business, specialising in contemporary lighting and installations. A change of circumstances and the emergence of the global pandemic in 2020 led to a need to stay at home…and an opportunity for her to start painting again. This led to her creating a collection of pictures depicting herself as a Goldfish, stating that The Goldfish was a representation of how she was feeling during her time shielding, illustrating her feelings of isolation and loneliness. She says: “I enjoy the challenge of interpreting new subjects with my emerging and evolving style and palette of techniques. I am on a never-ending journey to find new ways to innovate and add extra depth to my work“.
